Upon being presented with a certificate and sign, Society President, Raveena Rajasingham explained "we joined the program to fulfill one of our objectives - to be of service to our community that we live in. By participating in this program, our Society will learn many skills that will aid our youth and children in becoming better citizens for themselves, others and the future." view PDF
TCASD Camp
Tamil Cultural and Academic Society of Durham held it's first every summer camp from July 21st to July 25th. It was a huge success and many of the children were sorry for it to end. The week was filled with fun activites like crafts, sports, games, and excellent speakers including the renound basketball player Anthony Sims who gave the children a wonderful motivational speech. It was a wonderful experience for the children and the organization was extremely glad to have held it this year.
Ajax Home Week Parade
38th Annual Home Week Parade - Tamil Cultural and Academic Society of Durham participated by creating a parade car and generally saying thanks to our beautiful community of Ajax. It was a beautiful day and was tons of fun for everyone.
Canada Day Henna Tattoos
This year members of our organization who have had experience with henna gave out free tatoos to the public in rotary park on July 1st from 10:00 - 6:00. We had no idea the designs would become so popular, but soon we found ourselves taking down a waiting list of names. We must have completed over 200 designs. The demand for the tatoos was incredible, but we were happy to be able to share a piece of our culture with the community at this Canada Day celebration.
